Our Principles

The Foundation’s objective is to provide tailored access to the latest advances and technologies in contemporary medicine for the children of Russia. As we set out along this path, the Foundation’s trustees are keenly aware that even the most significant financial investments will never be enough to resolve every problem. This is why we have considered it essential to establish the following principles guiding our activities:

1. Allocate, not accumulate. The Foundation is the organizational structure we have set in place to fulfil the founders’ philanthropic aims. It is financed by its trustees and exists to disburse funds, not to accumulate them.

2. We measure our success by the lives we save. Expenditure for anything else is considered to detract from our statutory purpose.

3. We minimize organizational costs. The Foundation does not have its own infrastructure in Russia, but acts in conjunction with leading Russian charitable organizations, entrusting them with the initial selection of beneficiaries. Decisions on assistance are made on the basis of internal examination of the information supplied by our partners in Russia.

4. We engage the potential of medical treatment abroad only once all possibilities for domestic treatment have been exhausted. Our priority is to give assistance to those patients in need of medical treatment and rehabilitation which cannot be provided in Russia.

5. We only give direct assistance. The Foundation’s resources are dispensed directly to the medical establishment appointed by agreement with the Foundation’s Russian partners, on the basis of concrete medical evidence and earmarked strictly for the patient’s needs.
